Đurić: Serbia’s foreign policy is guided by national interests and a long-term vision for development
Addressing participants in Antigua and Barbuda, Minister Đurić stated that Serbia’s foreign policy path aims to ensure stability and predictability in its immediate surroundings.
At the same time, he underlined that Serbia remains consistently committed to safeguarding the principles of sovereign decision-making and the independent formulation of national policies.
“Our foreign policy is based on rational assessments, aligned with the needs of our citizens, and focused on the protection of sovereignty and territorial integrity—pillars of our national identity. I extend my gratitude to all who respect Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Đurić said.
He noted that Serbia is open to economic partnerships, firmly believing that prosperity paves the way toward peace and stability.
“As a permanent observer in the OAS, Serbia strongly believes in the importance of multilateralism and the contributions this organization makes to stability, development, and democracy across the Americas. Our cooperation with the General Secretariat has already taken shape through joint projects in education, tourism, and digital transformation, and there is both the will and the potential to deepen this mutually beneficial partnership,” Đurić stated.
In recent years, he noted, Serbia has witnessed dynamic growth in bilateral relations with OAS member states across political, economic, and cultural domains, and stands ready to further enhance ties with the Americas through trade, infrastructure and energy investments, educational programs, and cooperation in sustainable development.
“In a time of profound global transformation, when challenges such as climate change and digital security are becoming central to our agendas, we believe that inter-state cooperation is more essential than ever. The OAS plays a vital role in shaping such cooperation across the Western Hemisphere, and Serbia—as a European partner—is ready to serve as a bridge in strengthening collaboration between our regions,” said Đurić.
The Serbian Foreign Minister also recalled that Belgrade will host the Specialized Expo 2027 and noted that a recent preparatory meeting in Serbia brought together representatives from as many as 154 countries.
That event, he explained, will serve as a platform for participating countries to individually display their achievements and values, while also reaffirming the principles of international cooperation.
