FM Selaković: Serbia determined to strengthen political and economic cooperation with Germany

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, H.E. Nikola Selaković, met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, Annalena Baerbock.

Expressing satisfaction with the visit of the German Minister, Foreign Minister Selaković pointed out that, although it is taking place in extremely complex international circumstances, this visit testifies to Germany's high commitment to our region.

FM Selaković stressed that Serbia is committed to continuing the high level of political dialogue and to strengthening the overall cooperation during the tenure of Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Foreign Minister Baerbock, adding that Serbia, wants to be recognized as a reliable, responsible and predictable partner in the Western Balkans.

The Foreign Minister of Serbia pointed out that Germany is one of the most important economic partners and biggest investors in the Serbian economy, emphasizing that Serbia is interested in further improving economic cooperation through continuous growth of foreign trade and the use of investment potentials.

Foreign Minister Selaković underlined that Serbia is clearly and firmly pursuing its European path, noting that further support from Germany is expected for the opening of clusters and speeding up the European integration of Serbia.

The interlocutors discussed the situation in the region, and Foreign Minister Selaković emphasized that preserving peace and stability in the Western Balkans is of key importance for Serbia.

Concerning the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština, FM Selaković reiterated that Serbia is committed to dialogue and reaching a compromise solution.

During the meeting the situation in Eastern Europe was also discussed, and Foreign Minister Selaković pointed out that Serbia consistently insists on the respect of international law and the territorial integrity and sovereignty of all countries.
