Intensification of political dialogue and economic cooperation between Serbia and Kazakhstan

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikola Selaković, received Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gabit Syzdykbekov for a farewell visit.


The Minister stated that bilateral relations are very good and said that Serbia is determined to intensify the political dialogue and further deepen the overall cooperation.

Selaković pointed out that the opening of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Belgrade in 2019 especially contributed to the improvement of Serbian-Kazakh relations.

The head of Serbian diplomacy also pointed out the importance of exchanges of visits at the highest level, expressing hope that the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mukhtar Tileuberdi, to Serbia will be realized in the next period. According to him, the visit would be of great importance, since this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Selaković expressed gratitude to Kazakhstan for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia and the position on non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called "Kosovo".

Speaking about the overall cooperation, Selaković singled out economic cooperation. He said that its current level does not correspond to the potentials and interests of the two countries and in that regard, said that he expected the Third Session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation to be held as soon as possible, which is one of the key tools for further improvement of economic cooperation.

Also, they discussed the establishment of a direct airline on the route Belgrade-Nur Sultan, which would contribute to bilateral cooperation, enable easier connection of business people, but also the development of tourism.
