During his stay in Madrid, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, met with José Ignacio Landaluce Calleja, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate of the Kingdom of Spain, with whom he discussed ways to strengthen comprehensive bilateral relations through enhanced parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

Minister Đurić noted that he expects the friendly ties between the two countries and peoples to be accompanied by a more intensive parliamentary dialogue. He extended an invitation to members of the Senate to visit Serbia, underscoring the importance of parliamentary diplomacy for the overall relations between the two nations.

He expressed his satisfaction with the readiness of the Senate to jointly mark the forthcoming important anniversaries that testify to the well-developed bilateral relations between Serbia and Spain. “This is a valuable opportunity to jointly celebrate the friendship established by our forebears,” Minister Đurić concluded.

The Serbian Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude for Spain’s support of Serbia on its path toward EU membership, as well as for its principled position of non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of so-called Kosovo and the stance it maintains on this issue in international organizations.

Minister Đurić also welcomed Spain’s participation in Expo 2027 in Belgrade, voicing his conviction that Spain, through the richness of its culture, will contribute to the success of this international exhibition, and emphasized that the event will help improve Serbia’s image worldwide.
