Political dialogue with Uzbekistan to be intensified

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, met, on the sidelines of the gathering marking the 60th anniversary of the first conference of the Non-Aligned Movement, with the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Farhod Arziev.

Selaković stated that the relations between the two countries are good, friendly and without open issues, but still insufficiently developed.

The Minister expressed our readiness to strengthen the political dialogue, and, in that regard, he sent an invitation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan to pay an official visit to Serbia.

He also referred to the recent political consultations between the two ministries of foreign affairs, saying that they were assessed as the beginning of a new stage in the development of bilateral ties between Serbia and Uzbekistan.

The head of Serbian diplomacy thanked Uzbekistan for its position on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, expressing the expectation that support of that kind will continue both bilaterally and in international organizations.

The Minister conveyed that Serbia is ready to establish and strengthen cooperation in numerous areas of common interest, with a special emphasis on economic cooperation.
