Relations between Serbia and South Africa without open issues

11. Oct 2021.
Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Africa, Alvin Botes.

Selaković assessed that the two countries are characterized by good political relations that are not burdened with open issues.

The Minister pointed out that the support of the Republic of South Africa regarding the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, both bilaterally and in international forums, is of great importance.

Also, Selaković expressed the expectation that this country will remain in compliance with the basic postulates of international law and keep that position.

He conveyed that Serbia is determined to continue the political dialogue at the highest and high levels and a more frequent exchange of visits.

Economic cooperation is below real possibilities, and, as the head of Serbian diplomacy stated, if we take into account that South Africa is a growing market, the potentials for cooperation are numerous, especially in the fields of agriculture, agro-industry, trade, and modern technologies.

The Minister also pointed out that our country is ready to intensify cooperation in the field of education and culture, noting that we give special attention to the “World in Serbia” program, for which we have quadrupled the number of scholarships, as we want to enable students from distant friendly countries to be educated in our country.
