Selaković: Serbia is an honest and committed friend of the Kingdom of Eswatini

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Nikola Selaković met with the Speaker of the House of Assembly of the Kingdom of Eswatini Parliament Petros Mavimbela today.

Minister Selaković pointed out that Serbia was committed to the development of friendship and comprehensive relations with the Kingdom of Eswatini and all countries of the African continent, reminding that those ties dated back to the SFRY period and were based on mutual support, solidarity and understanding.

Minister Selaković indicated that it was necessary to intensify the political dialogue and arrange visits at the highest level, saying that the visit of King Mswati the Third would be of great importance. Also, on this occasion, he extended an invitation to Minister of Foreign Affairs Thulisile Dladla to visit Serbia this year.

Minister Selaković informed his interlocutor about the course of the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština, emphasising that the Serbian side was unequivocally committed to finding a lasting and sustainable solution, fully respecting the basic principles of international law and the legally binding UN Security Council Resolution 1244.

Noting that the economic cooperation between the two countries was not sufficiently developed, Minister Selaković said that it was necessary to actively work on its strengthening, especially highlighting agriculture and food production as the areas with the greatest potential.

The Minister also added that Serbia was interested in closer cooperation in the field of education. He informed his interlocutor that Serbia had approved eight scholarships for the students from Eswatini to study in Serbia through the scholarship program for foreign students "World in Serbia".

The Speaker of the House of Assembly of the Kingdom of Eswatini Parliament thanked Serbia and the Serbian people for the solidarity and humanitarian aid of 35 tons of food products that Serbia sent to that country. Minister Selaković underlined that Serbia was a sincere friend of the Kingdom of Eswatini and its people.
