Selaković talked with the Head of Iranian diplomacy

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Nikola Selaković had a telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Hossein Amir-Abdollahian today.

The Iranian Minister extended his congratulations on the successfully held presidential and parliamentary elections in Serbia, the convincing victory of President Aleksandar Vučić, as well as on the success of the largest ruling party.

Referring to the long tradition of friendly relations and mutual support, Minister Selaković said that Serbia was committed to strengthening and consolidating overall cooperation with Iran.

In light of marking the 85th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Minister Selaković pointed out that it would be of great importance to organise visits at the high and highest level this year, and invited Minister Abdollahian to visit Serbia.

Minister Selaković particularly thanked for the consistent and principled position of Iran on the issue of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called "Kosovo". He also said that Serbia was supporting the efforts aimed at reaching an agreement within the negotiations on the Iranian nuclear programme, taking place in Vienna.

Minister Selaković emphasised that the economic cooperation between Serbia and Iran was not on a par with the excellent political relations, and stated Serbia`s clear commitment to its strengthening, especially in the fields of agriculture, tourism and transport.

Minister Selaković highlighted the good cooperation in the field of education, welcoming the great interest of Iranian students to study in Serbia through the "World in Serbia" programme, and said that Serbia would do everything in its power to increase the number of scholarships.
