12. Oct 2021.
On the sidelines of a high-level meeting dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the first NAM conference, Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selaković met with Angolan Foreign Minister Tete Antonio.

The Ministers reminded that the diplomatic relations between the SFRY and Angola were established immediately after the declaration of independence of this country, and assessed that the relations between our two countries are very developed and are characterized by regular communication at a high level.

The head of Serbian diplomacy especially thanked Angola for its firm position on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, and the unequivocal support it provides us in international organizations. He emphasized the unequivocal support of Serbia to Angola in multilateral forums, as well as the determination of our country to provide assistance to Angola and the Angolan people, in accordance with the needs and possibilities.

Selaković said that Angola was a very important economic partner of the former Yugoslavia, noting that Yugoslav companies had realized great deals in the field of petrochemistry, construction, mining, agriculture, and investments, and expressed hope that the trend of our companies returning to the Angolan market would continue. The ministers agreed that holding a business forum would be important for improving economic cooperation and exploring business potential.

Also, Minister Selaković pointed out that our country pays a lot of attention to cooperation in the field of education and culture through the “World in Serbia” program, and that we want to enable as many students from Angola as possible to be educated in our country. He informed his interlocutor that, within that program, Serbia will increase the number of scholarships four to five times starting next year.
