Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
27. Sep 2025.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia expresses its concern regarding the recent actions and statements of the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Nations, Zlatko Lagumdžija. His unilateral approach, which does not reflect the positions of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s collective institutions, undermines the spirit of regional cooperation and dialogue.
We recall the remarks of the Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović, who emphasized that this constitutes an arbitrary action by the Permanent Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Nations and a violation of constitutional procedures. This case clearly underscores the need to respect the joint institutions and the balance enshrined in the Dayton Peace Agreement.
The Republic of Serbia remains committed to good-neighbourly relations and calls upon Mr. Lagumdžija’s superiors to ensure that their diplomatic conduct returns to a framework of basic mutual respect and cooperation, in the interest of the stability of the entire region.
