Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia

The Delegation of the Republic of Serbia in the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), headed by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, strongly condemns the anti-Semitic incident that occurred on the night of 6-7 November 2023 at the entrance to the building where the premises of the Haver non-governmental organization are located and expresses the belief that the competent authorities will, in the shortest possible time, find and prosecute the perpetrators of this inadmissible act.
The Republic of Serbia, especially its capital and all the citizens of our country have always fostered tolerance and resolutely opposed any form of bigotry, be it anti-Semitic, Islamophobic, racist or other acts that incite hatred, violence and intolerance. We have done this continuously and will continue to do so in the future.
Such incidents represent an attack on the foundations of democracy, civil rights and human dignity, and at the same time an attack on freedom of association and expression, which are among the basic rights guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Serbia.
