09. Oct 2026.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Đurić held a telephone conversation today with Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Félix Ramón Plasencia González.

Minister Đurić congratulated his Venezuelan counterpart on his return to office, expressing confidence that his reappointment would contribute to further strengthening the traditionally good bilateral relations and friendship between Serbia and Venezuela.

Emphasising that relations between the two countries are rooted in long-standing friendship, mutual respect and solidarity, Đurić expressed his hope that Venezuela would make a successful recovery from the devastating effects of the earthquake. He stressed that Serbia would always stand ready, within its capabilities, to extend assistance to its friends.

The Serbian Foreign Minister reaffirmed Serbia’s commitment to further strengthening political dialogue and maintaining close communication at all levels. In this context, he highlighted the importance of the political consultations between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs held in Caracas several days ago.

Đurić underscored Serbia’s deep appreciation for Venezuela’s principled position of non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of so-called “Kosovo”, expressing particular gratitude for Venezuela’s consistent support for Serbia within international organisations on issues of the highest national and state importance.

The two Ministers also explored opportunities to advance economic cooperation and strengthen ties in the fields of culture, science, healthcare and diplomatic training.

Đurić welcomed Venezuela’s participation in the Specialised Expo 2027 in Belgrade, emphasising that the event would provide a valuable opportunity to foster closer ties between the two countries and further deepen bilateral relations.
