Ambassador Lazanski passed away

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs with sadness that our esteemed colleague, the Ambassador of Serbia to the Russian Federation, Miroslav Lazanski, passed away suddenly.

We will remember him as a great patriot, an excellent writer, journalist, eminent military-political commentator, who loved his country and proudly represented it all over the world.

His dedication, devotion and commitment as the ambassador of our country will be remembered, as well as numerous activities aimed at further improving the cooperation and friendship between Serbia and Russia.

The Ministry sympathizes with the family, friends and colleagues of Ambassador Lazanski.

The Book of Condolence will be opened on Thursday and Friday from 10 am to 12 pm in the building of the MFA, in 24 Kneza Miloša Street (ceremonial entrance on the corner with Nemanjina Street). An electronic Book of Condolence will also be opened at the address: protocol@mfa.rs.

The funeral will be held on Friday, 6 August, at 1 pm, at the New Cemetery in Belgrade. The commemoration will be held on the same day at 10.30 am, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

Minister Selaković sent a telegram of condolences to the Lazanski family

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikola Selaković, sent a telegram of condolences to the family on the occasion of the death of Ambassador Miroslav Lazanski.

"With immense regret, I received the news of the death of our dear and esteemed ambassador and exceptional journalist Miroslav Lazanski, and above all a top professional and good man who has always been with all his heart with Serbia and our people", the telegram of Minister Selaković reads.

He emphasized that Ambassador Lazanski was a great journalist, publicist and one of our best experts on geopolitical conditions in the world, and he adds that he will be remembered as a great and sincere patriot.

"With the departure of Ambassador Lazanski, we all lost a lot, but, in this sad moment, there is still something that makes us proud, and that is that we were his contemporaries and associates" the telegram of the head of Serbian diplomacy reads.
