Arnaud Guyon gives 20 cows to Serbs in Pljevlja

07. Sep 2022.
Today in Pljevlja, Director of the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Arnaud Guyon met with Serbian families, who were given 20 pregnant heifers, as a part of a project financed by the Directorate in the amount of 5 million RSD.

“We bought the cows from local sellers, and gave them to the locals, who will further give any calves borne by those cows to their neighbours. This way they will all remain in the territory of the Pljevlja Municipality. We have now helped over 20 multi-person families. In the next phase, after the cows have calved, support will be provided for additional 20 households. I am proud that our project has helped these truly hard-working people in Montenegro, showing that solidarity goes beyond state borders”, said Guyon.

The project “Economic Empowerment of the North of Montenegro” is being implemented by the Directorate in collaboration with the humanitarian organisation Old Raška and the Eparchy of Mileševa.

A similar self-sustaining project had already been implemented last year in Bosanski Petrovac, where the Directorate had bought 35 pregnant heifers for households of Serbian returnees, and their calves have recently been distributed among other families.
