Serbian Foreign Minister Nikola Selaković has concluded his six-day visit to Central Africa with a visit to Cameroon, where he met with the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister and the ministers of defence, agriculture, and telecommunications.

"We were welcomed as dear friends, and I had the opportunity to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cameroon for the third time in five months," he said, noting that this was the first visit of the Serbian Foreign Minister after 38 years.

Minister Selaković said that at all the meetings he had had, readiness to strengthen political dialogue was clearly voiced, along with the need for cooperation in the fields of agriculture, defence, telecommunications, and modern technologies. He reported that he discussed with the Prime Minister of Cameroon the need to conclude an agreement defining the legal basis for the cooperation between the two countries, as well as that all the interlocutors had stressed their readiness to visit Serbia as soon as possible and continue communicating with their Serbian counterparts on specific types of cooperation.

Minister Selaković said that Cameroon’s support in the protection of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty was particularly important for Serbia, and thanked his hosts for the active backing that this friendly country provided Serbia in all international forums.

Summing up the visits to Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Cameroon, Minister Selaković said that all those countries had a huge potential for cooperation, and that Serbia’s task was to strengthen the diplomatic and economic presence in that part of the world. "In four countries, we had meetings with two presidents and two prime ministers, ministers of foreign affairs, agriculture, and defence." ― he said, adding that all his interlocutors expressed enthusiasm for Serbia's progress and extended their sincere congratulations to President Aleksandar Vučić.
