Selaković: Strong potential for continued strengthening of economic cooperation with the Republic of Korea

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Nikola Selaković met with the new Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Li Jeung today.

Minister Selaković stated that good, friendly relations between Serbia and the Republic of Korea had been reflected in the recent years in a more intense political dialogue at the high level and an improvement of the overall cooperation.

In his words, Serbia was particularly interested in an improvement of economic cooperation and arrival of new Korean investors, particularly renowned companies acting on the global market.

Minister Selaković added that Korean companies already present in Serbia had so far had very satisfying results.

He expressed his pleasure with the fact that the bilateral economic cooperation between Serbia and Korea had been at its highest ever level last year, and stated that there was a considerable potential for further trade growth, particularly by increasing the import of food and agriculture products from Serbia to Korea.
 
Serbia is, in the words of Minister Selaković, also interested in strengthening cooperation with Korea in the areas of culture, education, information technologies, science and technology and sport, and there is also strong potential for development of tourism cooperation and arrival of a large number of Korean tourists.

Minister Selaković expressed his gratitude to Korea for allowing Serbia to commercially import medical equipment which was in short supply in Serbia from Korea, at a time when this equipment was most needed for combatting the COVID-19 pandemic, and for the humanitarian aid sent by the Government of the Republic of Korea to the Institute of Public Health of Serbia “Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut”.
