Selaković: High level of cooperation between Serbia and Italy

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, met today with the Italian Ambassador, Carlo Lo Cascio.

The meeting focused on the upcoming visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, to Belgrade on 21 and 22 June.

Selaković said that Serbia attaches great importance to the further development of overall relations with Italy, which are taking place in the spirit of friendship and close ties between our peoples.

He pointed out that cooperation between Serbia and Italy at the level of strategic partnership is developing, as well as that it is reflected in the high level of political and economic relations and branched and successful cooperation in numerous fields. Selaković added that it would be useful for the relations between the two countries to hold the fourth joint session of the two governments in the near future.

The Minister said that economic cooperation is one of the priorities and underlined that Italy is one of the most important investors in the Serbian economy, expressing satisfaction with the fact that the level of trade and economic exchange between our countries in the first four months of this year has increased.

Selaković thanked Italy for its support to Serbia in the process of European integration, especially emphasizing the fact that Italy is one of the loudest advocates of the enlargement of the Union.

The dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina was discussed, and on this occasion, Minister Selaković reiterated that Belgrade is committed to dialogue, which was shown at the last meeting in Brussels, despite the obstruction and completely unconstructive attitude of Pristina.
