ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY
Citizens of the Republic of Serbia do not need a visa to enter Costa Rica. For tourist travel, the minimum remaining period of passport validity must be 6 months. For regulation of stay (residence), the minimum remaining period of passport validity must be one year.
When entering Costa Rica, travellers are required to have 500 US dollars, a credit card and traveller's checks, as well as a return ticket.
It is necessary to obtain a permit to bring hunting weapons into the country.
Pets may be brought into the country upon the presentation of a certificate of the pets’ health and vaccination against rabies, issued by a veterinary institution from the Republic of Serbia.
Food intake is not allowed.

No social security agreement has been concluded.

USEFUL INFORMATION

HEALTH SITUATION — Health insurance is mandatory (the insurance must also cover costs of any treatment for COVID-19 infection).
The general sanitary situation is good. There are no mandatory vaccines or recommended vaccinations. Bottled water and avoiding eating at street kiosks are recommended.

SECURITY SITUATION — The risks of crime are high, increased caution is required.
Since it is a seismic area, there is a risk of earthquakes, and heavy rains are frequent. The rainy season lasts from May to October in the central and the Pacific part of the country. In the Caribbean part, the rainy season is in November, December, and July. Light clothing throughout the year is recommended.

TRANSPORT — There are two international airports ― Juan Santa Maria in San Jose, and Daniel Oduber in Liberia. The important ports are Limon and Calderas.
A motor vehicle may be driven with a Serbian driver's licence, and it is necessary to obtain a liability insurance upon entry into the country.

OTHER INFORMATION — The local currency is the colon (CRC). All international credit cards are accepted.
