The State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nemanja Starović, had a working meeting today via video link with the Political Director of the European External Action Service (EEAS), Enrique Mora.

On this occasion, the State Secretary informed about the efforts that Serbia has made on the road to the EU, expressing his belief that a political intergovernmental conference will be held by the end of the year as the next step in the accession negotiations.

Starović pointed out that Serbia clearly shows its firm commitment to the European path by participating in EU missions and operations. With regard to Chapter 31, the Secretary of State pointed out that this is the only chapter for which the Screening Report has not yet been adopted, although more than six years have passed since the completion of the screening.

Also, interest was shown in the process of joining the political decisions of the EU, that is, in harmonizing the foreign policy of Serbia with the EU, and Starović informed his interlocutor in detail about the current percentage and structure of political joining.

The interlocutors agreed to continue the bilateral political consultations between the MFA and the EEAS, which will be held in Belgrade in the coming period, and pointed out the importance of holding the next round of EEAS regional consultations with the Western Balkans 6 in Podgorica.
